Content, Keywords, Website Visitors, Local Searches And Geo Targetting

In the land of the search engine, all other things being equal, content is king. There are several target groups that a website has to reach. The first group is the search engines. Without proper exposure to search engine spiders, a website may as well be invisible. A website also has to be interesting and a good read for the website visitor. Fail to get your site properly configured for either of your target groups and it is bound to fail.

There is good news on the horizon though. It may not be that difficult to get your website towards the top of the search engines, particularly if you are targeting web users or customers in a particular geographical area.

There are a multitude of local businesses that are excellent at delivering the service that they provide to their local community. Plumbers, carpenters, builders and drain cleaners to name but a few are usually excellent trades people. They are not, however generally great at getting their website noticed, particularly as they are busy people who don’t have the time to get the necessary work done that means that they get positioned properly at the top of the search engines.

Help is at hand- there are a number of qualified people who can get your website to the top of the search engines. They are generally called search engine optimisation (or optimization) experts or seo for short. It is relatively easy to get yourself set up as a self styled expert so look for evidence of their work or track record. Start perhaps for looking for their own website using the search terms “seo your town”.  In my case, look for seo Bridgend and you will find my website.
